cinco de mayo fiesta/playdate

last year i threw a small cinco de mayo playdate..made some enchiladas and the fixins..we made tissue flowers and of course the kids played too.  when my friend debran and i realized cinco de mayo was this week we decided to carry on with the tradition and quickly started planning a fiesta!  we put up some decorations, invited all the friends and kiddos and told everyone to bring something to share.  debran so graciously hosted the fiesta at her house.  i have to add a big thank you to her...especially after the turnout..debran was a great hostess and everyone had so much fun!  thanks again, debran!

and a great turnout=a huge spread of the tastiest mexican food and desserts (i didn't even get a chance to sample everything!).  debran made yummy virgin strawberry margaritas and pina coladas to accompany it.  and it just wouldn't be a fiesta without a pinata for the kids, right? ;)  it really was a fun day..perfect weather..the kids had a great time playing, and the moms had a great time chit chatting and relaxing!  here are some of the pics!

a sombrero hung on the front door to welcome guests ;)
banners and sombreros hung about the house and outside in the backyard

this was only the start of the spread..i took a few pics in the beginning and forgot to take anymore once everyone had finally arrived and all of the food was out. oops! tacos, beans, rice, enchiladas, taquitos, taco salad, nachos, carne asada, pollo asada, etc etc

a few of the dips

a refreshing virg. strawberry margarita...
even tastier with some pina colada mix added to it ;)
i wish i would have gotten pics not only of the rest of the spread, but of the yummy desserts..churros, pan dulce, and debran made the greatest fried cinnamon sugar chip things..haha!  i can't wait to make those. and cream to dip with!

a fiesta toy filled box of fun! :)

debran, the hostess! :)
pinata time!

enjoying a churro
a tub of water filled with fiesta ducks ;)

the kids left pooped and the moms left beyond full! haha!
hope everyone had a fun time celebrating cinco de mayo too! :)
