we held it in her backyard, which was a perfect setup for our vision. we decided a potluck would be great..everyone brought an appetizer, side dish or dessert. we provided the entree, a couple of sides and treats. the food was amazing. it's always great to have a variety.
here are some pictures from our 'summer southern sitdown.'
we had gone to a local farmers market the previous day and loaded up on fresh flowers
the setup included a lot of things we had combined, some new things bought, and things created and crafted.
sarah found this cute bucket at an antique store the day before..it was perfect for the sunflowers! i was a tad jealous it wasn't my find. ;) haha.
sarah made these cute flower cans...
i made a few signs so our guests knew where to put their dish when they arrived
i painted an old window...
we used oil cloth for the tablecloths
the kids table was an old door set atop 2 big buckets. just their level ;)
i found this old chalkboard while antique shopping...i'm in love with it ;)
it worked out perfectly ;)
flowers on the kids picnic table up top
one of sarah's daughters wrote this to welcome guests as they arrived ;)
cookies, muffins and twinkies :)
drinks included watermelon juice, pink lemonade, and iced tea
more drinks
sarah's husband smoked tri tip and made chicken
as the sun started setting we lit the candles on the table
and then it was time for dessert..yummy!!
it turned out to be the perfect summer night...full of great friends, great food and great memories.
