my friend, sarah, and i have had this picnic in the works for a couple of months now. we picked the perfect spot, a secluded area in a local park, and worked on all the details to create a perfect picnic! everything turned out so good, the weather was great, the food was delicious, the kids ran around, and the adults got to hang out and relax...a recipe for a great picnic. :)
vintage summer picnic...this theme was inspired by a vintage table cloth lot sarah had bought recently.
i created the chalkboard ;) i can't get enough of 'em!
the hosts :) sarah and myself
we set out two tables: one with drinks and goodies and the other with dinner
let's start with the goodie table :)
drinks included pink lemonade, tropical iced tea, and raspberry lemonade
we decided mason jars would make the perfect cups..and they did. i decorated them up individually and then they were a keepsake to take home.
sarah made these adorable frames to label everything. and then each girl got to take one home as a little favor to place a picture from the picnic in :)
no shortage of sweets here ;)
i found the cutest pink and white marshmallows..so naturally i dipped them in chocolate and made them into pops :)
sugar cookies and banana bread...yum :)
no event is complete without cupcakes!
and aren't gerbers the perfect summer flower?
the kids had a blast hanging out and running around...not to mention indulging in all the treats!
we had a game section set up for the kids..from hula hoops and a bean bag toss to bubbles and kite flying!
one more look at the table since i have completely messed up all of my html haha ;)
i sewed the bean bags out of vintage inspired material :)
the grill master :) thanks jason!
we used these buckets filled with ice to keep the salads, etc. cold until we were ready to serve dinner
3 of my greatest friends, sarah, maria and debran...love you girlies! it was so great to be able to spend the day with them!
my husband, who enjoyed every minute of wheeling down our "load" of necessities multiple times..haha! thanks hon! :)
my family :)
the bean bag toss
sarah and jason made the greatest salad, and placed them into individual containers and attached ribbons
i was so excited when i found these cute plates! and i wrapped the silverware in pink and white striped napkins, and cut up a leftover wrapping paper roll to use as napkin rings. environmentally friendly, right? ;) ( i saw the idea in better homes and gardens magazine!)
summer essentials :)
chicken kabobs w/dip and potato skins..mmmm!
chicken salad and rolls to make sandwiches
funny little story: i had found the big blue and green vases at homegoods a little while back and thought they would be perfect for the picnic..so i bought them and hurried and told sarah when i got home. she had found the little green and blue vases that day too at a thrift store!! how crazy is that?! talk about the same wavelength and perfect coordination! haha! gotta love it! :)
we used these red baskets for the kiddos.
sarah and kelsie :)
true picnic style. we laid out blankets and had everyone bring chairs.
organizing a game of hide and seek ;)
ella and lily enjoyed helping themselves to lemonade over and over again..haha!
there were races..
and lots of laughs!
did i mention laughs? ;)
and lots of fun!
and sillyness ;)
who needs shoes when you can run barefoot through the park? that would be ella's mentality ;)
baby love. sarah captured these adorable pictures. they were so cute flirting with each other and giving kisses. so sweet.
sunset.
we can't wait to start planning our fall festivities...stay tuned! :)
